Bangkok Hotel Thailand Accommodation and Travel |
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. It is the centre of politics, economy, education, culture, and transportation. A large number of tourists often travel to Bangkok because there are so many attractions to visit. The other attraction is the friendly people and wonderful culture. Thai people are very generous; it is a family based culture. It is said Bangkok is one of the safest cities to visit.
Bangkok is also the commercial center of Thailand, as well as Southeast Asia, for imports and exports. There are two important sectors of economy in Bangkok. First, Thailand has been an agricultural country in South East Asia, so agriculture was the main source generating income. Now the expansion of the agricultural sector is steadily increasing. Second, Tourism has become a main source of revenue, with increasing numbers of visitors coming to Thailand.
Shopping in Bangkok is not limited to one or two major streets (Khaosan Road and Phra Athit Road). There are many areas throughout Bangkok affording ample choices and easy access. The following is just a selection of some of the principal shopping areas.
Bangkok's nightlife is very popular. It's relaxed, safe, enjoyable and great fun. Bangkok's diverse nightlife scene features everything from excellent live music and good jazz clubs to ultra cool bars, trendy clubs and great restaurants and go far beyond its once upon a time sleazy and naughty image.

Suvarnabhumi Airport
Developing Thailand as the aviation and air transport hub of Southeast Asia is among the priorities set by the Royal Thai Government. One of the ways this can be achieved is to develop Suvarnabhumi Airport to achieve the highest international standards, to ensure its support for the rapidly increasing air traffic demand corresponding to the need of aviation business worldwide. His Majesty the King has graciously conferred the name of “Suvarnabhumi Airport” which means the “Golden Land". |
Don Muang Area (Old Internation Airport) The southern part of Don Mueang was split out to establish a new district Lak Si. The old name for the area was Don E Yeo meaning plateau of eagles and vultures due to its geography and abundance of those birds. The new name was given by the king when Royal Thai Air Force was established there. |
Bang Na Area Bang na is one of the 50 districts (Khet) of Bangkok, Thailand. Its neighbor, clockwise from north, are Phra Khanong and Prawet districts of Bangkok, Amphoe Bang Phli, Amphoe Mueang, and Amphoe Phra Pradaeng of Samut Prakan Province. |
China Town Area The Chinatown is an old business centre covering a large area around Yaowarat and Charoen Krung Roads. There are many small streets and alleys full of shops and vendors selling all types of goods. It has been the main centre for trading by the Chinese community since they moved from their old site some 200 years ago. Nearby Phahurat or Indian market is one of the city's renowned cloth centres. |
Khaosan Road Area Khaosan Road is a short road in central Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the Banglamphu neighborhood (Phra Nakhon district) about 1 km north from the Grand Palace with Wat Phra Kaew. It has developed over the years into probably the most profound worldwide example of a "backpackers' ghetto", with relatively cheap accommodation compared to other areas of central Bangkok. The accommodation varies from 'matress in a box' style hostels, to full Western-standard luxury. |
Old City Area If you are short on time you might consider visiting the Grand Palace in the old city part of Bangkok. They are the most famous tourist attractions which once was a former residence of the Kings of Thailand. Several buildings are located within the complex. You will see the Reception Palace, the Funeral Palace, The Throne Hall and the beautiful revered Temple of the Emerald Buddha. |
Ploenchit Area If you're shopping for the best, head for the area around Ploenchit Rd and Chitlom. Several high quality shopping centres like the Penninsula Plaza, the Amarin and the newly reburbished Gaysorn Plaza (white marble and gleaming chrome) Lots of upmarket labels and exclusive designer brands with more high-end shopping at the Paragon Centre. The area is served by two skytrain stations, Ploechit, and Chiltlom which has direct access through elevated walkways into Central Department store and major shopping centres. |
Pratunam Area Pratunam Market is one of Bangkok's major markets, focusing on clothes which makes it Thailand's largest clothing market. The name Pratunam means Water gate. The market is open 24 hours a day and is located at the intersection of Ratchaprarop and Phetburi roads in the district Ratchathewi. This is maybe the cheapest market for buying clothes, fabrics and textiles. Other merchendise include watches, handicraft and others. |
Ratchadapisek Area The Ratchadaphisek from the intersection with Rama IX Rd. to Sutthisan Rd. has many interesting entertainment facilities, hotels, restaurants, discotheques, karaoke lounges, and massage parlours. |
Riverside Area One of the most fascinating areas of Bangkok, the riverside reflects a constantly changing scene with taxi boats gently transporting passengers, rice barges being towed laden with goods and local trading boats, against a backdrop of glittering temples and modern warehouses. Close by is Sanam Luang - the political capital of Bangkok which has many historic landmarks and buildings, including the Grand Palace. The area remains relatively free of modern architecture and gives a better feel for "old Bangkok." |
Sathorn Area Sathon Road is a major road in Bangkok. It consists of the northbound Sathon Nuea Road (belonging to Bang Rak district) and the southbound Sathon Tai Road (belonging to Sathon district) separated by Khlong Sathon. On the southern end of the roads is the Taksin Bridge, also commonly called Sathon Bridge, crossing the Chao Phraya River. Thus Sathon Road serves as an important transportation link between Phra Nakhon and Thonburi sides of Bangkok. The intersection between Sathon and Narathiwat Racha Nakarin roads is a new commercial area filled with office buildings. |
